Vignette was born from a question: what happens when traditional English furniture is reimagined through the lens of Black American culture? For artist and maker Ransom Sutton, the answer became a body of work as personal as it is powerful.

Each piece embodies the qualities Sutton finds most compelling in Black culture, elegance, boldness, quiet power, rendered in form, fabric, and the patient language of craft. The process of making became a process of connection: a way of moving closer to Black American roots through the hands, through material, through the slow decisions that turn furniture into something more.
